The Damage Done (1995)
Track listing:
- The Damage Done
- Crematorium
- Pain
- Something Brutal
- Preacher of Hate
- Fight
- Sabotage the System
After the Children of the Flame, Brad and Kris joined up with Petar (Bass) and Marko (Drums), two young Fremantle Metal musicians with a drive to play and write Original music. They selected a few of their 1st songs then set about on a relentless writing and gigging schedule throughout 1994. 7 tracks were recorded for The Damage Done in late 1994 with Ben Glatzer (Ammonia, The Stems, The Sleepy Jackson etc) at Revolver Studios in Perth, Western Australia. The album was launched at a full house Orient Hotel in Fremantle on Saturday March 4 in a stage diving and mosh pit frenzy, forever to be remembered. The next day it was launched as a party gig where all ages could come and enjoy. It was held at the White Gum Valley Hall and things got out of hand outside. Hundreds of people turned up outside and thus began a conflict with the police that turned up to break up the party. A lot of bottles were smashed and some were thrown at the police, resulting in what iconically became known as “The White Gum Valley Riot”. The gig made all of the Western Australian tv news stations and also onto talk back radio.
The response was astounding these 4 young Metal Heads received. With Vanadium members barely in their 20’s and in their late teens, the young band were living their youth to the fullest. Reviews were very positive for the album and for their own brand of original Australian Thrash Metal.
The band received a lot of press and interviews from many magazines and fanzines following the release of The Damage Done.
Children of the Flame (1993)
Track listing:
- Preacher of Hate
- Crematorium
- Children of the Flame
- Fuckin’ Savages
- Intruder
Not long after writing their first Original songs, Vanadium entered a small studio in Fremantle, Western Australia to record 5 tracks for their debut demo cassette. Not long after recording this, Kris (Vocals) and Brad (Lead Guitar) parted ways with their Rhythm section. This cassette received “Demo of the Month” in Hot Metal Magazine, which was Australasia’s biggest Metal magazine at the time. These were the first songs Brad and Kris wrote together and it paved the way for their next and most iconic recording to date so far. Preacher of Hate and Crematorium would be re-written and revamped by their new line-up as 2 of the old songs from this 1st period which would be recorded for The Damage Done.
